Case Study: Harbour Days 2011

Client: Bronte Business Improvement Area

Event Summary
A ten-day event was held at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park.  Six master sand sculptors from across Canada competed in a sand sculpting competition and exhibition.  The event also included Tall Ship cruises, live entertainment a
nd children's inflatables.

Objectives

  • To promote Bronte Village as a tourism destination
  • Increase content from that of the 2010 event

Strategies
Infinity's event management team focuses their communications and promotional activities to feature the rich marine heritage of Bronte Village.  The advertising was targeted to outside of the Oakville area to attract tourists to the area.  Their other strategies included increasing sponsorship and media coverage of the event.

Results
Due to Infinity's efforts, this event was deemed an overwhelming success.  Over 10,000 people attended the event, with 1,750 people traveling over 40 km from the Bronte area to attend the event.  400 attendees were from out of province.  There was media coverage from two of the top television stations in southern Ontario, CHCH TV and CityTV's Breakfast Television, raising the profile of Bronte Village.  Sponsorships was increased, adding three new sponsors to the event and one returning sponsor as well as receiving a Provincial sponsorship grant from Celebrate Ontario for $18,000.  An estimated amount of $1.2 million was spent by visitors throughout the event.
